In work

Today I have to get up even earlier than yesterday because the program for this morning is the reverse of yesterday evening.

After getting up in the middle of the night - and for those who know my sleeping habits, it was still dark outside - and having seen the sunrise at Uluru/Ayers Rock, there were several options. One is the walk around the base of the rock. 9.4 km long and the coach driver said it will take about three hours. Bah, I did it in just under two.

Ok, it surely helped, that it was early in the morning and clouds were covering the sky. With the burning heat of the sun I wouldn't have been able to maintain that fast pace. Further it helped, that on large stretches of the walk it is forbidden to take pictures because that part is sacred to Anangu men or Anangu women. So I did nont stop often.

I regained the car park right in time to take also the guided base tour. This time in just 15 minutes, because done in the coach. The driver would explain was some of the features seen on the rock means to the Aborigines. After almost returning to the point of departure, the bus stopped for a short walk with the driver as guide.

The final point was the visit to the ... cultural center. Here they especially mentioned what importance the T... for the Aborigines have. These are stories told passed on from generations to generations, told by the elders to the young, who have the function of teaching but also embody the laws who everyone has to follow. It is not allowed to take pictures, so I cannot show you anything.
