At wake up the landscape looked quite different then on departure. Already in the clear night - the moon is almost full - one could see the shape of a unpopulated region. Also one noticed, the mobile would seldom find a cell. The answer for an SMS I could send out in the night came in only at noon when the train neared Alice springs. The desert is though still quite green as there are plants growing which have adapted to the arid climate.
I explored right away Alice Springs walking around. It's not a large city but the weather is fabulous, the thermometer clmed to 32 degrees centigrade.
