First I go to Keswick railway station to check-in my luggage to get rid of it. Then I search around the station for something to eat, but there are niether restaurants nor stores here.
I go back to the station to the part where local trains stop. Soon a train heading for Belair comes by and I take it in the hope to find something to eat in the Belair park or to see on the go some nice place I could stop. As the train goes up the hills around Adelaide, there are a lot of beautiful views, but there is no plae I would stop.
I arrive at Belair, and after walking around a bit I come to understand, that the only way to eat here is your own food at one of the many picnic grounds. Therfore I take the next train back and go through to Adelaide City
Here finally I get something to eat and also find an Internet Café which allows me to connect my laptop so that I can read my mail and update this web site. I cannot stay too long, because I need to get back to Keswick to catch the train.
There is much more people now at the station, as there are trains which depart soon. The Ghan. which is the train I will take, is distributed over two tracks, because otherwise it would not fit in the station. Only after all passengers have boarded the train, it is composed into one long train of two engines, four cars on which the auomobiles of those passengers travelling together with their car are stored, and 31 passenger cars.
The seat can be reclined but it is not really comfortable to sleep in. Furthermore the train ride is very rough. No way to get into sleep fast. So I pass a long time of the night in the nearby lounge car spending most time with the computer interrupted by a few short chats with other passengers.
At a quarter past three I'm finally so tired, that I figure I could get to sleep despite that it is uncomfortable in this train. Indeed I will sleep for about five hours with only a few shot interruptions.
