Today I have to catch the train for Melourne, so I had set my mobile to wake me up in the morning at six. I did not know if this handy - thanks to JR for giving it to me - will wake me up when switched off. So I left it on, nobody had phoned me during the last days. You surely already imagine what happened.
The first call was at 1:30, where I had to show - almost literally "while sleeping" - that I still knew all about the last project I worked on. The next call at 5:30 was someone wnating to sell me stuf, I just hang up.
It would be stupid trying to sleep for just half an hour, so I got up. I switched off the phone to see, if the alarm would work. It did, so I could have slept till six without interruption. I packed all my stuff and went to the railway stattion where I checked in my luggage.
Do not be fooled by the sleek look of the train, it is not as fast as it looks like. And the tube near the group of railway staff, this is a piece they had to replace before the train could depart with an hour delay. I was told by Daniel, that Australia had the best railway system of all countries... of the third world.
The train ride was well, once I got acustomed to the fact, that in every narrow turn the train would make a noise like it was teared apart. I spent the time looking out of the window, sleeping, study someof the travel catalogs and doing a bit of work on the Computer. The batteries are drained too fast for a long train ride.
It was very easy to find the hotel in Melbourne, it's just a short walk from the station. First I had intended to eat a bit, but finally went to bed early at ten. Even though one heard in the room the "singing" from the nearby pub I fell into sleep very fast.
